W. David Johnson has been a practicing attorney since 2002. He has spent most of his career trying complex cases in Family Court, Circuit Court and Probate Court. Throughout his career, he discovered one important thing. Most people don’t plan to fail. They fail to
plan. W. David Johnson watched as well-meaning people lost everything because they did not have a plan in place. Just some of the tragic things W. David witnessed as a trial
attorney include:
A young couple with 3 children under the age of five, decided to go on a second honeymoon. Unfortunately, they were both killed in a tragic automobile accident. Because
they did not have a plan in place; their children were placed in Foster Care. The children
were eventually placed with an uncle and aunt who had very different parenting
philosophies than the children’s parents.
An elderly gentleman, with three grown children, married his third wife after inheriting a
substantial amount from his parents. He left everything to his third wife, knowing she would
“Do the right thing." Shortly after his death his wife married a young man. They spent the
next five years travelling the world and spending every cent that the elderly gentlemen had
inherited and other wise accumulated in his lifetime. His children had absolutely no rights.
A lovely woman, who started showing signs of dementia, did not trust banks or the
Federal Government. Over the last few years of her life, she took all of her assets and
purchased gold. Over the years she purchased over $150,000 worth of goal. Upon her
death that gold had an estimated value of over $300,000.00. The only problem is nobody
knows where this lovely woman hid her gold. Unfortunately, she did not leave her family
a treasure map.
A well-meaning single father purchased life insurance policies for his twin boys when they were seventeen. The single father passed away when his boys were 18 years of age. They both received $1,000,000.00. They both managed to spend every dime of it in a matter of two years and were left with nothing.
These types of tragic stories happen in courts all across America. After
experiencing these types of tragedies on a daily basis, W. David Johnson decided that an
ounce of prevention was worth a pound of cure. He has recently opened up Estate Planning
of South Carolina where he will be solely focused on putting together an estate plan that
fits your individual needs. Regardless of whether you are a young couple with small
children or an elderly couple with substantial assets you owe it to yourself and to your
children to have peace of mind.
